Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin
Daniel Chapter 5 outlines the story of the handwriting on the wall. God was clear in His message of destruction and doom that would come that very night. This piece is airbrushed with underglazes and then glazed with a clear coat with striking images. On one side is king Belshazzar pointing in fear to the enscription above, "Mene,Mene, Tekel, Parsin" as Daniel soberly enters the room prepared to interpret the message. On the other side is painted an image of scales that have been clearly tipped against king Belshazzar, symbolizing Daniels interpretation of the message written on the wall. Daniel 5:26,"This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
